摘要:Ideal hydrodynamics, as a generally covariant theory, can be considered as a simplified version of general relativity. We will show that this general covariance is intimately related to statisticalmechanics underlying local thermalization. We will then describe theproblem of including statistical fluctuations in relativistichydrodynamics, a still open issue connected to the still mysteriousonset of thermalization in small systems. We will show that mostapproaches to this so far break general covariance, and outline a wayto resolve this issue, based on expanding in statistical cumulantsrather than gradients and including general covariance at the outset. We close with a discussion of how to extend this formalism to hydrodynamics with spin and address the pseudogauge issue.
